WORLD HISTORY (Social Studies)
12RWH / 22RWHDuring this course, the goal will be to survey the history of the world. The main elements of the course are intended to develop cultural, geographic, and historical knowledge including, but not limited to the development of early civilizations; early foundations of the major world religions; Greek cultural development and influence; Roman cultural development and influence; Muslim culture and influence; European feudal period; Chinese and East Asian history and culture; Indian subcontinent history and culture; Mesoamerican cultural elements; the Age of Exploration; accomplishments of the Renaissance; the development of the modern state and the concept of empire; global conflict in the 20th century, including but not limited to WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, African and Asian independence movements, and the Cold War; the concepts of human rights, globalization, energy, and terrorism in the 20th and 21st centuries.
